What can I do with the Friends area?

To find friends:

  • Navigate to the Friends area
  • To search for a specific friend - Type their first name, last name or both names into the search box and then click enter or return

  • To only get people whose first name is exactly 'dan' (not case sensitive), try typing in @first_name=dan.

  • To search for people at your school, choose "Find someone at my school" from the top drop down menu

  • To search for friends who you are sharing a particular area with, type in sharing:lessons or sharing:items, etc.
  • To search for friends letting you access particular areas, type in access:tests, access:reports, etc.

To add friends:

  • Click the plus sign to the right of their name

OR

  • Request access to their stuff by clicking an icon in the "You Can Access" column

OR

  • Grant them access to your stuff by clicking an icon in the "You Are Sharing" column

To invite friends:

  • Navigate to the My Friends page
  • Click on the plus icon to the right of the search area
  • Enter in your friend's information
  • Click "Invite this Friend"
  • An automated email will be sent to your friend encouraging them to check us out

Understanding your friends' access to your information:

  • If the icon is gray, you are not allowing your friend to have access to that particular resource
  • If the icon is yellow, your friend has requested access to this area
  • If the icon is light green, you are allowing your friend to have read-only access to that area
  • If the icon is dark green, you have access to campus-wide student records (principal access) - Only System Administrators can give out this access
  • If the icon is blue you have allowed your friend editing (create, delete, scan, upload) privileges for that area
  • If the icon is pink, you are allowing your friend to share your information to others for that area

To control what your friends see:

  • Navigate to the My Friends page
  • Under the "You can Access" column, click the icon(s) until they show the color that represents the amount of access you'd like them to have

Note: Be sure the "Share with my Friends" icon within your lesson plans, tests, etc is highlighted.

Understanding your access to your friends' information:

  • If the icon is gray, you have no access to that particular resource
  • If the icon is yellow, an email has be sent to your friend asking to grant you access and they will see on their My Friends page the area you'd like access to
  • If the icon is light green, your friend has granted you read-only access to that area
  • If the icon is dark green, you can see campus-wide student data (principal view) - Can only be given to you by a System Administrator
  • If the icon is blue your friend has granted you editing (create, delete, scan, upload) privileges for that area
  • If the icon is pink, your friend has granted you the ability to share their information to others for that area

To see more of your friends' teaching resources:

  • Navigate to the My Friends page
  • Click the icon(s) representing the area of the site you'd like access to, under the "You can Access" column, turning it yellow

  • An email will be sent to your friend asking them to grant you access to that area and they will see on their My Friends page the area you'd like access to

To remove a friend:

  • Navigate to the My Friends page
  • Click on the X button at the far right of the My Friends page.
